Is there a way to do this without spending the $170.00 on that elim bracket....I want to clean up the engine bay some...I have already gutted it and removed all the tubing... But, I want to delete it and get it out of there....I have tried to think of a way, but have drawn a blank.... Isn't there a AC elim bracket that can be purchased from the dealer for little money and maybe change it someway to work for this...Keep in mind this is on my 88 model...If anyone has done this, please let me know what I can do or any help....The $170.00 for the bracket seems a little bit much for what it is....
Does doesnt it.... :D ... I wish I had the access to a machine shop now, but I don't..... I guess I will keep trying..... I wish I had the Automatic like you.....If you could get some info on what he did and how he made it, that would be great....
I bought the bracket throught the Forum Mall (save %10) and have been very happy with it. But it was alot more money than I wanted to spend. Since then there have been a few for sale in the Buy/Sell C4 section for much cheaper.
Well I really can't say that he made a copy of mine because I'm sure Breathless Performance would get alittle made about something called Copyright Infringement. He still hasn't put his on, but it should work. And if for some reason BP reads this, it isn't an exact copy. He changed some things he didn't like.
I wonder what year I would have to ask for....I wonder if I could get a picture of one from somewhere.....That would help me to figure out if I could make it work....Hard to do this in my garage without having access to a shop....Keep the ideas and help coming.....

Re: Smog pump delete? (Fozzy_Bear)
I did the Breathless elim for the air pump as well. But I've been looking for an A/C replacement and can't find one. Ol'RJ a few posts ago mentioned an A/C replacement for the camaro. I was told about that as well. Was at Chevy/Vettefest in Chicago a few weeks ago (My car was shown) and I walked around for two days talking to Perf shops, resto guys, other car owners like mine, and nothing. One said that the camaro part won't fit for some reason, different bolt pattern than an L98 or something? Anyway, if you find an A/C replacement pulley system, let me know! Thanks.
I am in the process of making a so called A/C eliminator bracket. Going to cost about $10 probably. Peice of scrap aluminum, some steel rods. Putting the tensioner pully on it for proper belt routing
I will be posting pictures of it when I am done. I will probably redo it in steel once I get it made right, then get it welded.
As for the SMOG Pump. Has anyone tried using a Heim Joint to replace the smog pump bracket? I dont think you NEED that pulley there. My car is different then all yours. I have no A/C, No Smog pump, an electric waterpump. So the belt routing isnt quite the same. But I will be using a heim join setup for the second alternator mount.
Might be worth someone looking into...
Matt
Oh yeah... as for the Camaro eliminator part. I THINK it wont fit because of the spacing. The distance from block to pulley is different. Atleast thats what I think I found out while looking for this myself.
UB2 SLOW: For you, nothing!
You have an electronic smog pump, it causes no harm (runs for the first 45 seconds the car is cold started, I beleive). On the L98 cars its a belt driven pump, looks ugly, and supposidly eats up power. (I removed mine for cosmetics).
As for the AC eliminator. Again, no gain, if its not engaged its not taking any power away (maybe .0001% or something very minor). Again, removed mine for cosmetic, and use of car...

Re: Smog pump delete? (VetteRacer282)
A/c elim for me is two things. Cosmetics and weight. I think the whole A/C system weighs about 70 lbs. or so with the condensor, plumbing, motor assembly, etc. Plus the drag elimination no matter how small is OK w/ me.
The air pump weighs 20 lbs or so as well. So I would call the removal of 70 lbs. an improvement. So I'm still looking for an A/C delete option that works as well or better than the air pump delete.

Re: Smog pump delete? (ZylaRace)
ZylaRace,
Thanks! Is this a vette part? Have you used it on an L98? The reason I am asking is that someone suugested a camaro part that I've heard will not work.
If this works, this will be the best info I have recieved off this forum so far.
I've been looking at vette shows, calling catalogs, talking to perf shops, etc.
The only answer I got before you was to custom fab. Thanks again.
