I have a 91 6 spd, and I am using the stage 2, with 160 thermo. It programs the fans to come on at 160 and turns off the CAGS and the 1 to 4 light, and I believe it made an increase in power as well. I love the fact that it turns off Cags, and turns on the fans, and it was easy to install.
I have an '85 4+3 with the stage 2 chip. Definitely more power for me than the stock chip, aside from turning the fans on quicker. I had a problem with mine when I first got it. I'd get off the e-way and slow down, and the thing would idle at 1100-1800 rpms until I tapped the gas peddle. I called Ed, he tried to tell me it was the car, which I knew it wasn't. I sent the chip back, he turned down the idle a little, and that worked. I was worried that if he turned down the idle it would not be as quick, but it was still more responsive with the turned down chip than the stock chip. :seeya
I have a 93 Vette LT1 with the stage 2 fastchip. Works great for me. With the stage 2, you MUST change the thermostat for it to work properly. I bought the thermo thru them also.
I have had mine installed for about two months (Stage II chip and 160 degree thermostat). Did it during the regular flush and stat change. The chip was a very simple install and the instructions are very clear. Check around on Ebay or C4 parts for better prices. I got mine form a fourm member who's mods had exceeded the chip.
Ed is probably the best for modded engines, but a chip wont really give you anything unless youve done some mods. Otherwise all its good for is turning the fans on early.
1. allows fans to come on at 180 deg, off at 170. Stock setup, fans don't come on till 230 deg. Colder engines produce more hp.
2. removes 1st to 4th skipshift
3. engine rpm to redline at 6200 without retarding spark as stock system does at less than 5800 rpm.
Thanks Jim,
I just started looking into this. Slowly trying to increase performance. I have an L98 w/the 160 t-stat, K&N/cut airfilter, Flowmaster 40 series mufflers w/crosspipe,air foil, Throttle body by-pass, no Frizbee. Is it advantagous to get the stage 2 chip or is not worth the effort at this point.
I put a Stage 2 chip in my '92 LT1, mostly stock. My primary purpose was to have the fans come on earlier, and by so doing, my engine now runs at about 170*, not 195*. Quarter mile times went down by about 0.15 seconds, mostly because of the cooler temps.

You can accomplish the same thing by using a manual fan switch.
Thanks Vader and everyone else.
I thought that maybe there was something else going on with these chips. I already have manual fan switch So I don't see a need in getting this mod now.
ed made a chip for the engine in my sig, runs just awesome, i still have to dyno it to varify correct air fuel but all the signs point to it running perfectly.
Worth every dime! Running a stage 2, with a 160 thermo, car is nuts compared to beforehand. Also heard that it depends upon your original chipset as to degree of improvement. Has to do with the 4 letter code on your stock chip. I have BAFL which turned out a ton of performance with his chip. Forget the fan switch, and disconnecting CAGS, get the chip, IT ROCKS! :seeya
