Need Help Fast!!!!!!!
My car developed a vibration in the back left tonight at around 60 km/h and I can hear noises ranging from clicks and clunks to squeaks. I had the left rear tire off when I got home and nothing looks out of place? The tire is wearing more on the inner tread and their are 2 small marks on the inner wheel well where it has rubbed the undercaot off and polished the metal!!! :eek: Please tell me this is just a bad u joint or hub and not the rearend going south. A hub up here is about $250:cry but I'll gladly foot the bill if thats all it is. Oh and with the left rear jacked up/tire off, if I turn the rotor there is some movement in the halfshaft.

:eek: What has the tire polished? I just can't imagine it touching anything metal unless the tire was really in trouble.
With the rear raised, grabbing the tire at 12:00 and 6:00 and attempting to rock it top to bottom will reveal shot hubs/bearings.
I know others can chime in as to how to check the u-joints.
