Default 02 Sensor life Span

Based upon personal past experience, what is the expected life time of a 02 sensor used in a supercharged LT-1 run on the street in a rich a/f application.

https://www.nonda.co/blogs/news/what...d-i-replace-it

Since it can affect fueling, it could nickel and dime me to death on fuel.

This is my experience as well.

My AEM UEGO wideband heated sensor failed after 8 years, 20000 miles. Replaced the sensor and started working fine.

Silicone sealant contamination (from sloppy engine work), etc. will damage the narrow band sensors.

How are we defining "failure"? If it still gives plausible readings but is slow and lazy BUT does not trip a code, is it good or bad?

silicone contamination from sloppy engine work ruined an o2 sensor. I cant tell you whether it was ‘slow’ but it made the car run so rich it fouled up the ngk iridium spark plugs i had - resulting in a no start condition until the damaged parts were replaced. In this case it was the stock non heated o2 sensors behind the cats.

more recently, the wideband uego heated sensor failed - showing maxed out (i believe ) super lean.

it wasnt slow or lazy to warm up. It just didnt work (ie. The gage showed maxed out)

My understanding is that as it grows old, it loses out the peaks and the troughs of the wave and frequency. After that, it fails altogether. So before it does, it may give inaccurate readings.
