LPE seems to prefer new - and I emailed DRM a few days back and am awaiting a reply.
There's a local place called Corvette Paramedics whom I may give a call to - they're closer and may not have any qualms about an older ('92) car.
A tip: If you would like to see what DRM is all about is to call them. You'll probably have to give them a call to get them to respond to you. Sending an email is a great way to ask all of the questions you have without running up a big phone bill...or forgetting anything you wanted to ask, but to get them to read the email will probably take a call. My guess is they get tons of email from people just fishing and don't respond until you call. At least that was my experience, I didn't think they were interested in my business until I called them, then I found out they definitely wanted my business. Tim @ DRM read my email, replied with what they could do for me, and followed up with a phone call to just to get a face to face feel for what I wanted.

There's a lot to be said about going with a speedshop that is local to you, you just have to talk to them all and see what you feel the most comfortable with.

I sent my email to the sales department - they should be somewhat motivated to reply, knowing full well that actual % ROI may be low. But that's just me.
You are right about the local spot too. It could lead to a lot more general knowledge and Vette fun for me.

Jimbo, DRM is a very small company. Their shop is a converted horse barn on the edge of a town of 3k people. They get cars sent to them from all over the United States and Europe, it just amazes me....Their "sales department" is
Steve and Tim, with Angie answering the phone when they are both busy talking with customers or locating parts.

But, while I'm avery statisfied customer, I will admit that the fact that their shop is only 50 miles away was a great factor in my decision to have them do the work. Now that I know them, I wouldn't hesitate to send them a car from anywhere. But, if you want to drop in on the shop while the work's being done to see how it's going, shipping a car off to another state doesn't work very well.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide to do!!! I know this is a big decision..

id have to say both are rather different as well. DRM is more of a suspension guy and lingenfelter a engine guy. As business bloomed they got into doing it all by hiring the people who knew about other things they didnt specialize in.

On a personal note, ive bought too many things from drm, and i absolutely love their service. I had questions regarding brake lines, bushings, springs, alighment specs, custom shocks, spacers etc and theyve take their time with me EVERY time i call them on the phone. I simply cant believe how NICE they are down there. well maybe cuz im in canada and they feel sorry for me.. lolz anyhow, they have taken their time to answer my questions to the last detail, and for that they have my vote.... and lots of my money !

I am also looking into a way to get a DRM Vette - which means all the hard work was done by someone else :)

How about More Performance in Charlotte, NC? Their prices are cheaper than both and they have a pretty good reputation. I'm a satisfied customer...

All I can say is I'd give any new vendor that you decide upon a small project and see how it goes before dishing out large dollars. I'm pretty frustrated with LPE right now. I sent them a beautiful red powdercoated LT1 intake for porting and polishing and also asked them over the phone to take 20 thou off the ends where the silicone goes so that I can get more sealant in there. ( This was recommended to me by the guy who I bought my in progress 383 from. ) Anyhow LPE ended up not getting it right and took 20 thou off the intake ports. They admitted their error and said I had given clear instructions, however they won't replace the intake. I had to send it back to them so that they can try "fixing" it. I said I didn't understand how they are going to fix it and neither does my motor guy. Anyhow they received it again on Wednesday morning and promised to let me know by Thursday as to what was going on. I told them that I'll even give them until Friday. Sure enough as per usual they never called me before they left. The only time I got a call from them was when the intake was ready the first time and they wanted my credit card number.
They never call me back. You know, sure it's not a lot of money they are making now that they are so large and well known, but they had to start somewhere and I bet they didn't treat customers this way when they first started. If they are so sure they can fix my intake, why don't they just send me a different on and keep the fixed one for themselves. I even offered to eat the cost of the intake if they just gave me my money back. I'm so sick of this. At this point all I can do is tell people to be careful. Maybe if they see this post, they'll do something. They said they will make it right, but aren't in any hurry to at all.

The beauty of it, maybe, is that IF you paid by credit card, and they did not get it right, dispute the charge with your credit card company - and do it in writing.
I'd too like to hear how they are going to "fix" the intake ... are they going to melt down the metal so it flows and grows :) ?

Thanks! that's a great idea. I didn't think of it. I used an Amex card so I will call American Express and ask them about it. You know I was really nice when speaking to LPE, even after they screwed up the intake. I thought OK fine, everyone screws up now and then, no big deal, just send me a different intake and maybe give me a store credit to cover the powdercoating ( roughly $75.00 to $100.00 ) and no big deal. It's when they started ignoring me and not returning calls, is when the frustration set in. I'll take bets that they won't call me back period if I left it to them. However, I'll call them next week because I can't afford to eat the entire ~$600.00 I have in the intake. Thanks again for the tip!
