New to the chip area
I have to admit that I know almost nothing when it comes to the chips. Probably the closest thing I've done is bought a Hypertech chip and installed it.
What all can the chip control and how much of it? Could I get like a general summary?
Would getting a custom made chip from somebody be better than making your own settings?

You are not asking a simple Q.
Burning chip and tuning engines is a learning process. If you are not up for putting in a fair amount of time, have some one burn you chip. Chances are it will be better than the hyper stuff.
Best results occur when you bring the car to the tuner.
Tuning is the art of giving the car what it wants.
