so when I was in my car reconnecting battery after fuel filter replacement, the rear hatch made (I have no idea why) the clicking noise as if you were pressing the release button in the center console, about 20-30 times before it stopped. Now when pressing the yellow button, no noise, no hatch open, and nothing I’ve been doing will get it open.
ive found the manual release cable, and immediately scoured this site for answers. Most people have the clicking noise, yet their hatch won’t release.. I have ZERO clicking noise whatsoever. So I’m thinking the relay went bad. Per most people’s responses, I took up the carpet and hatch behind passenger seat, and in the compartment where the Jack is, is a little black cube. Is that my relay? Has ANYONE had the same issue as me, where no noise happens at all?
all help is very much appreciated, and I can’t wait for this little piece to get fixed, before I can start posting photos of the ol girl and her cleanup!
so I feel very foolish. I looked on the side of my door and voila!! The hatch button was there. First dozen attempts, nothing happens. No clicking, nothing. I jump in the car to do something and upon getting out, I clicked the door button again.. BOOM!! I worked!! It worked for about 5 minutes, before stopping. All the meanwhile the center console switch never worked again. The cube that I thought was the relay, must’ve not been it since it was removed while the hatch was working for that little bit. So now I’m back to square one. I removed the center console, checked and cleaned the connections going into the center console switch, and am debating on removing the door panel to clean that switch since I’m not the biggest fan of door panel removal. I feel as if there is a short somewhere, or...? I have no idea.
This is under the plastic compartment, behind passenger seat. This is not the relay I’m assuming since when I removed it, it worked miraculously for about 5 minutes. This is under the screwed compartment, behind driver seat. I don’t see any sort of relay in here, nor do I even kow what that device is.
The components behind the drivers seat is part of the ABS system. The relay behind the passenger seat may be related to the audio system. (just a guess)
IIRC, the hatch switch on the door will only work for a short period of time after the drivers door is first opened.

ok well it clears that compartment up some. Now to try and figure out what’s going on with the switch
