You might like these, I just got a pair of stainless steel turbine heatshields from Innovative Turbo, they will fit TO4 tangential turbines. The Thermotec wrap kit was pretty effective, but I thought it looked a little cheap due to the fact that it's cloth/fiberglass based. These shields are preformed, pretty rigid and have integral lugs to fasten or safety wire it in place. It's stainless on the outside and its about 3/8" think filled with a thermal barrier composite. They were $73 each from Innovative, the Thermotec turbo wrap kit is around $90, so it's a little more, but the shields looks alot more professional.
Not only will they decrease radiant heat but will also benefit performance due to keeping more heat in the turbine.
It's registered, insured, and I drive it on the street. It doesn't have any emissions equipment, including catalytic converters, so it' street legal, but not emissions compliant. I have it registered as a limited use, "pleasure" vehicle which limits me to 3000 miles per year and alleviates me of any emissions testing requirements. That's not a problem since I only drive it on weekends when the weather is nice.
The heat shields do not cover the bearing housing so it should not raise the temp enough to increase the risk of coking. Coking is more of a problme with lesser quality motor oils and driver behavior. As long as you use a high-quality motor oil and change it at recommended intervals along with allowing the engine to run at idle for a minute or two after pushing the engine hard prior to shutting down, coking is not a problem.
With all those horses.... can you make a good pass??? And if so what were your times. I really think you would spin &sway all the way down the track. If not that she would probably hop down the track with that much power   :iagree: :smash: :flag :hurray: :D
Yea, that what everyone said about John Meany's TT Corvette too, and he's running a milder engine than mine. He's now running low 10's at 165+ on street tires. His chassis and suspension is stock also, while I have made significant mods to mine.
