Default switched 12v power source

Trying to finish ignition box install for my aftermarket ECU, but I'm having a hard time finding a second switched 12v source in the engine bay. I've seen a few threads saying to use the pink wire on the windshield wiper harness from the C3 guys but not much from the C4 guys other than the "Brown" wire under the dash. Can anyone help set me on the right direction.

Thanks

I've never seen you mention 'by year' what your C4 is BUT if you've the 8A Electrical section of the FSM for 'what ever year' you should be able to answer your own question and I don't quite get the asking! You either 'get it' or you don't.

What about the ignition power for the HEI? Switched and easy to find.

When I google/search this forum some people have said to stay away from that. Why? I don't know. The topics on this forum can take a left turn pretty quickly when asking for help

I'll probably just use that, if it's good enough for MSD I suppose it'll be fine. I was hoping to find another source but without a FSM i'll just have to wait

I assumed you were using it for an ignition box, if that is the case it should be fine. People will tell you to stay away from that wire since it is noisy when it is running the HEI, but since you are eliminating the HEI with an ignition box it should be fine.

If you still plan to run the HEI and the ignition box is just a booster to the HEI then I would look for another switched wire since it nay be too noisy,

There us a pink with black stripe wire that powers the cruise control and mirrors. Should be easy enough to chase.

I need 12v while cranking too, I have a few of the pink/black unused but most are just 12v with key on I think.

It will not be hooked to the 12 volt power, it will be hooked to the CDI box? Correct?

Correct, I just hope the wire being near it won't cause any EMI

The cruise servo does not have a power lead that is hot in RUN. Either does the Wiper motor in an 85.

Excellent thank you so much, I got everything buttoned up last night but this is excellent info for anything I or someone else may need in the future
