I just picked up a 95 with a rod knock. The car came with the entire original motor and a block and the entire rotating assembly from a 95 impala ss. Now my plan was to essentially just put the top end from the original motor onto the impala block and call it a day. But I’m not sure about the differences between a f-body LT1 and a y-body LT1 I know one is a 4 bolt main cap and the f body is a 2 bolt main and that the f body only has one knock sensor. Is it possible to do what I’m hoping. Also for context I don’t have tons of money to spend on this so no 383 stroker. Just looking to put a motor back in with maybe a lt4 hot cam kit and some headers. thanks in advance. I really can’t find much on other pages
I got this book years ago. Wealth of information on these engines.
There are a few subtle differences in stuff like water pumps, hubs, etc. Subtle. But,
As far as the engine itself, very few things, if any.. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hpb-hp1393

I actually have seen the book multiple times and thought about buying it and you just convinced me. So now we wait for Amazon and hopefully I can find some answers.

I recently did just what your talking about. I have an LT4 and the block was cracked. The machine shop had short block LT1 2 bolt that someone had built but never picked up. I have no idea what it came out of. All of my LT4 stuff bolted right up with no problems.
I used that book when building my motor. It was huge help. I was working by myself with no help I would have not been successful without it. The last 2 chapters are mostly what you will be using. The assembly stuff. The rest is machining stuff that most of us don't do. If you haven't done the cam before with an LT1/LT4 it is important you read that section on the assembly and get the OPTI on there correctly. If not you may end up 180 out and it will never start. It's not hard it's a just a detail you don't want to overlook.
You will need to buy new head bolts. The stock ones are torque to yield and are NOT reusable. There should be a spot on the side of the block for the other knock sensor, probably just plugged at this time. Pull the plug and install yours. Everything should go just fine. Get a good torque wrench and have some fun!

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I've never done this before but first time for everything. I'm only 17 so my budget isn't very large so I was really hoping I could use the block without too much trouble. Thanks Again!!!
