I know this is a common issue, but I can't find the solution.
So my 96 lt4 was spewing fluid like everyone else's did. I tried fixing it myself but ended up stripping the bottom bolt and got too mad at the project. I took it to a shop but we are having troubles finding the correct oem replacement. I bought the one that every site said would fit, but when comparing it to what was already on there, it's missing a u-bend that seems vital in avoiding the serpentine belt. I've compared it with other year model hoses but nothing seems to line up. I'm going to attach the picture to this thread. Anyone know what part this is? I am debating a steel braided cable but those are a bit pricey and I'm already not happy with myself having to pay a mechanic. Any advice is appreciated!
What did you end up doing? I've been looking over the drm steel line but I don't love that is goes through the belt instead of around it
The one it replaced was not busted or worn, I was replacing it because I was installing a new motor and wanted all new hoses & etc. Fortunately the stock one was in good condition and I reinstalled it.
The DRM is the one used in racing and high end street cars without defect.
Do you know if there is a way to use the drm cable but not run it through the belt? is there an attachment or a way to thread it around the belt instead of through?

It gets tight in that area. I ground down the alternator bracket and cut a little pocket to allow the hose to fit through. But I also don’t have to worry about running an AC compressor.
