Unbolt and remove the pump. Get a smaller belt. Then weld the holes shut on the manifold and the cat. Hope you don't get caught if you live in an emission controlled state. You could get headers without the air ports if you don't feel like welding the holes shut.
Years ago when I did it I also removed the AC at the same time. For me I just needed a smaller belt. But I'm not sure if that will work if you are keeping the AC.

I watched corvetteben "eliminate" the smog pump by simply removing the internal fins so that no air was pumped out.
It allowed using the stock belt and still eliminate all the damn piping on the front of the engine.

I used the pulley off a 94 c1500 with no AC and the belt for a 96 with no a/c it... worked nice....
All the tubes can be removed and the pipes going into the manifold can be capped with a standard NPT cap. I did other things so I removed it entirely. If you pull the front accessory drive all the parts can be easily removed. I boxed mine as if I ever want to go back I can.

The AIR pump has very low drag as it's output is just diverted to the atmosphere at times other than startup. It's not worth the trouble to bother with unless it's failing IMHO.
I am subject to local emission testing where part of the test it a visual to make sure everything is there. They check for cats. gas cap. air pump, then check what comes out of the tail pipe. On the newer cars, they just plug in to OBD. I would like to switch to a different fuel injection system, like a Holley Terminator. I don't think that the Terminator will work well with the air pump because it would pump air into the exhaust before the 02 sensor. Can I just de vain the air pump and make it look functional?
Mine did fail on the freeway. the front pulley bearing egg shaped about 3/8" out of round and smoked the belt when it locked up. I haven't been able to locate another air pump. If I rebuild the whole housing, I would have to put an aluminum plate on the whole front end.
I've had this 84 since 85 and only have 97,000 miles on it.
On my 84, I left the noisy (but not yet completely broken) smog pump in place, removed the pulley, and used a shorter belt. Works fine. I think the belt I used was an 850. Since then, I have bought a rebuilt smog pump, as I am subject to emission testing every two years here in California. I will install the rebuilt one with the pulley and stock belt when it's time for a smog check.
Sorry but I don't keep such link records. Maybe a search for his rebuild of a C4 will locate the series.

From what I've seen that can be done though won't gain much improvement since your "inspectors" might notice if you removed all the related front fittings & hoses.
How do I bypass or eliminate the smog pump on my 84
Your smog pump pumps air into the Cadillac converters warming them up faster allowing the computer to go into closed loop so the ECM can start functioning properly...
