Default 91 cranking question

When I turn the ignition on, she cranks nicely but if I release the key while she is cranking, she starts immediately. It is not a problem, but I am wondering if this needs a timing adjustment --- I have not yet looked at the distributor cap to see if the contact point is proper.

Maybe it's just a wording/terminology issue, but something here doesn't make sense. When you are "cranking," you mean the starter is engaged and spinning the engine, correct? When you release the key, it should spring back to the "run" position and disengage the starter. If it hadn't yet started, the momentum in the engine could cause it to spin for some short additional time. Are you saying that the car always starts during this period when it's only the engine momentum spinning it and not the starter? If so, I would guess it's an electrical problem somewhere and perhaps related to the ignition key switch itself.
