Hello
I have corvette C4 1990 imported from the USA. AC is ofcourse empty.
I must make modification from R12 to R134a.
Does anybody have idea what is needed for sucha a modification.
Do I have to just change conectors for new one and put new gas, or it has to be replaced oil in compresor, some seals, dryer etc??
Thanks in advance for any help or even sugestions
Regards
Ideally you would want to figure out why it is empty in the first place, otherwise you will be refilling again soon enough. Generally I'd say to flush the system too and recharge. It'll work okay with just a conversion but should really also have a full clean out done and parts replaced like the orifice tube, absorbent in the accumulator as they are somewhat service items when exposed to atmosphere.
I would find the leak first. Once you know you can be sure if you have to replace the condenser or evaporator. Hoses, compressor, receiver dryer, orifice and a complete flush of what is left.
