I own a 89 6 spd. The ABS light is on I changed the relay on the ABS pump and checked the relay. I am wondering how do I check the wheel sensors. I had them out and cleaned them. Two of them look replaced. But, before I just go and buy them I figured I would ask if there is a way to test them.
Bill thank you for the suggestion. I have been doing some YouTube. I thought that my sensor would be best tested by resistance. But, looking at YT. I think I should be testing voltage AC. Am I correct?

Yes but if you have access to the tools, why not use it?
He said he might have it. Besides all I have to do is Jack up the car connect a multimeter and I can determine if each sensor is good or bad. I have already done the relays.
thank you

So you are only checking resistance? Or do you spin it and get voltage? I tried to but wasn't able to get the back wheels to spin.
I am going to put it on a lift and spin the wheels.
Let me know how it works out. I could not do it easily without a lift. My probes kept coming off or I couldn't get the wheels moving faster for the rear trying to keep the probes on
Way back when I was working on mine, I found a thread somewhere that select BMW sensors would fit in place of the oem ones though they didn't say from what year or model. OEM sensors cannot be found except used from when I was looking. From what I remember, you can ohm the sensors from the connector near the wheel. If it ohms out, the the sensor is likely good, that doesn't mean it's working - only that there aren't any breaks in that sensor wire. It still could be gummed up in the hub which would prevent it from working.
Long as you have power to the right connector at the abs unit, the KB tester is definitely the way to go if you can get access to one.

I have removed and cleaned and re installed the sensors so dirt is not an issue. Two of the sensors look like they have already been changed. Ohm the sensors. Does anyone know what resistance the sensor should have. My mechanic has an analyser that will analyse the ABS system.
So next week we will try. According to some YT videos. I should be able to connect a volt meter to the sensor connector and rotate the tire. The rotation of the tire spins the gear which generates a field measurable with a volt meter. So hopefully next week. I will at least know what is wrong. Rock Auto sells the sensors.
Thank you for your help

So he has the GM tool, because on the 86-89 cars, you can't plug into the ALDL port.

Anytime you are disconnecting the ABS sensor connector, you are asking for trouble. Those connectors after time become brittle and will break down. You are much better off going through the connector at the ABS computer. If you have the pin out box.
