I am expecting my kit here in the next few days, and will probably be working on doing some of the install this weekend, where did you mount the bottle, lets see some pics, I am probably going to be mounting mine in the spare tire carrier, but am not set on it at this point.

Do a search on this topic, there are 2 or 3 threads that are fairly recent(2-3 months ago) that have tons of pics on this subject.

I personally like the spare tire carrier as well.

Sorry no pictures, but there are plenty posted. Having a convertable I have moved mine, changed bottle sizes and ended up with a 10 lb bottle in the center. I can reach the valve easily and have some room (not much) on either side. I have a 5 lb bottle that gives me more room but not enough gas. I like the smaller bottle but hate to run out just when a Cobra pulls up. :smash:

Aqua, cool setup! But the heater is suppose to be wrapped around the bottom of your bottle. It is important for this because the siphon tube picks up at the bottom and you want to heat up the nitrous around that tube. Plus, when your bottle is less than 1/2 empty it will not heat up the nitrous that is deposited on the bottom. That is why the bottle is tilted.

yeah it gotta be wrapped around the bottom of the bottle. You either have to move the bracket forward or pull the bottle down a little. This will increase your nitrous pressure a lot faster on cold days.

cprgmr,

Thanks for your post. I just ordered those clamps from aerospace. I have been trying to find clamps like this for years. I cannot stand the ones I have now.

THANK YOU!

will mounting it in the spare tire carrier give you enough tilt for proper siphoning?

I don't know, that is a good question. However, I can give you many reasons not to mount the bottle in the spare tire carrier. It is too much of a pain to change bottles when you race, you also need a remote bottle opener, unless you plan on leaving the bottle on the whole time you race, if you do, that's bad for the solenoids, and bottle pressure will drop as a result. The bottle will get dirty from being outside, and the temp. will be hard to control with just a bottle heater, there are a million reason and I could go on and on. I hope those are enough reasons for you not to mount the bottle in the spare tire carrier.

I was considering that, and for almost all those reasons I have decided to not mount the bottle in the spare tire carrier. I will get some pics of the install once I get started on it.

Not to mention that the spare tire itself is part of the DOT required anticrush protection of the fuel tank. Running without a spare is dangerous, running with a nitrous bottle in place the spare is foolish.
