Default TCC lockup problem only when hot

86 L98 with TH700R4

Could the fault be the transmission temperature sensor or ECM.
I have a stock ECM but a custom chip. When the transmission warms up enough on the highway, the torgue converter will no longer lock up. When cold, locks normally.

Where could the problem be? ECM chip or temperature sensor?

There was a similar problem here:

I found more information and the fault could be the transmission temperature sensor or PROM.

Does anyone know where I could find the temperature sensor in the tranny? And where could you order a new one?
What about the chip, is there any setting where you can adjust the TCC lockup?

try messaging a user named Arbee he seems to know plenty about the auto trans's. I had issues with an 85 years ago and he among others were a great help.

Cheers.

Post the model number off the pan rail. Some of these early boxes had a temp switch and some did not. I will post a picture of the wiring type for your model.
EDIT: The solenoid could be getting too high a resistance or shorting itself once the oil gets hot.
