Nedd help with some upgrade figures
I have a friend who has a (86 w aluminium heads @ 235 HP)C-4 with these mods ( computer chip, exhaust (from the stock cats back), ported/polished 202 heads and a filter charger. He's looking to take on his friends C-5's (me and a buddy) I keep telling him that he's well under powered. He won't put is 86 vette on the dyno, thinks he'll break something. I told him he will only hurt his pride, not his car. I presently set at 300 RWHP. We are trying to figure out his HP rating with the above mentioned mods.
Any help will help him come clean with his figures/guesses

hard to say what he makes for power, i make well over 400 at the crank, i don't have access to a dyno for rwhp, i'd say your c5 will probably still spank him. its easy to settle, line 'em up :cheers:

chip-if custom programmed, 5-10hp maybe otherwise probably nothing
catback-10hp
ported heads (i gather these are the heads that came on the car that were ported)~15hp if he port matched it to the manifold and ported the exhaust side really good (hard to say exactly what he'd get)
K&N filter-5hp
Hes WAYYYY underpowered to take a C5 from a roll. From a stop, he could run from redlight to redlight against him because of the L98s great torque.
He'll have to get a SR and better heads and maybe some headers to run with that C5.

That's guys for your inputs, lets me go break the bad news to my boy. This just might push him over the edge not believeing what his Vette-brotheren has to say on his defence. This well probably make go to the Dyno this week with these cold temps we are having in FL.

My boy is not believeing what you guys are telling me. He will not believe that his mod 86 with 54000 miles still can not keep up with my C-5. We were messing around one day I had put 87 octane not knowing that I should be running on 93 octane. This was my first day with my new C-5, he pulled on me severely, His car pulls good for a 3+4 manual, but he still refuses to put his GQ (garage queen) on the dyno for all out bragging rights on who has the most HP. Please help console my brotheren, in fact we are all part of the Corvette family. Just fun amongst friends!
(OWNER) Dudes, Mike does not understand I also pulled 1999 convertible C5 from a rolling 2nd flat out, which he knows about and we are all friends but they can't stand I beat them both with my GQ. I'm just really suprised at the power the old girl has and I'm sick of this trash talk, my face hurts from laughing so much. :smash:
