It began with a clicking sound from the left front wheel... now I´ve got play in the 12 and 6 direction of three, maybe all four wheels. :cry When you guys are talking of OEM parts, does it mean that you have to buy the same crap one more time? :mad I mean, four wheel bearings in 63K miles, that´s ridiqulous!
OK, enough. I have some questions:
1. The price at a GM dealer here in Sweden is about $430 for one front bearing. That makes around $1700 for all four. If anyone knows where I can get them cheaper (in Sweden or Europe), please let me know.
2. What is the weight of one bearing? It might be cheaper to buy them in the US.
the bearings are close to ten pounds each, cost in the US is under $200 each. search the archives & a few sources are mentioned. $430USD is crazy money for a bearing !!

I was quoted the same + 200 for labor. I shopped around, and I believe it was Ecklers or MAD, I got them for ~200 a piece and saved a bunch!
~60k is about when my rears got real loose, and later I changed the fronts when I first detected any plas (70k).
Half the fun of owning a Vette is dodging the high price of replacement parts. When carparts.com offered me 35% off my first (and only) order I got two rear bearings for about $85 each. Look just like OEM. If you don't have ABS you get front hubs for about $150 each. Or you can use 94 Firebird front hubs for about $110 each. You can get them at O'reily or Autozone. They even have the ABS plug in. Ask here on the forum before you spend big bucks on parts, some one will always help.
Hey Tapper,
I replaced all 4 bearigns this summer and
I ordered them from Eclers...total sum was around $600 +about $80 shipping via UPS.
Thats not cheap by any means but a lot better than $2000 quota that I got from local vette shop.
Remember to check that rear wheel bearing spacer... mine had been totally chewed off...
btw. US folks... how much are those spacers worth and where can one find them? local GM shop?
order some from NAPA. I think you can off the web. The rear are 197 they are good parts. Even here in the US the dealer wants 420 each. Dont buy a real cheap bearing as you will just be replaing it soon again. I think NAPA is the best bang for your buck. Shipping shouldnt be bad.
