On an 89 you have to:
1) Remove the shifter button and retainer from the ****.
2) Remove the little circle retainer that holds the **** to the lever.
3) Pull the **** off the lever.
4) Remove the plastic console that is on top of the boot.
5) The boot is bolted to the console underneath with 4 bolts
Hope this helps, not sure what year you have.

you have to take off the console door, which has like 4 bolts, then there are 3 or 4 more on the console itself, one is beneath the cupholder, that have to come off, you will have to unplug the wires from the cigarette lighter and most likely coupe button. there are 4 screws on the bottom of the boot itself, it's really easy, just don't pull too hard, if it doesn't come off easily you are most likely missing a screw. :D
oh yeah and the shifter button...that would help :lol:
