Using TunerCat w/ WinNT...Help!
Anyone know how to restart a WinNT computer in MS-DOS mode? I've only used Win9x, and now using a friends laptop w/ WinNT on it. When selecting "Start", "Shut Down", the option to restart in MS-DOS mode is no longer an option.
TunerCat Instruction Booklet STRONGLY recommends NOT to use MS-DOS from any Windows operating system and only as "stand alone" when Reading or Writing to the PCM.

buy a 486 for $20 and just install DOS, people about GIVE away older systems these days. i have a spare decked out pentium 3 450mhz system i'll get $150 for if i'm lucky. just find a old system & use it for prom work.

Ooops. Nevermind. I see your flashing a PCM and I have never done that. Sorry I didn't realize you have to use a DOS window for that.

Sorry. :) There is also no DOS mode with Windows 2000 or Windows XP. I've never used the PCM version of tunercat, whats it like? I just have the version for editing BIN files and then use a pocket programmer 2 to burn my PROM chips. Thankfully the PP2 can burn from within Win2k w/o issue.

Hmmm. You can create a dual-boot senario. Win2k and DOS/WIN98.
You'll need partition magic if you want to retain the same drive or get a larger drive and ghost over the original image, then create a dual-boot
environment.
You should also be able to boot up from the floppy if you obtain a bootable dos diskette and point your BIOS to boot off the floppy.
You'll have to work from only the floppy.

This is what I had to do when I changed from 98 to 2K to use my Turbolink software on my GN, prior to the latest release which is windows based.
Do a search on 'bootable files' from GO.com, there are several sites that will step you through it.
