Default 84 speedo wires

I have rescued an 84 that hasn't ran in 11 years. The cluster and the ecm were not in the car.. Installed a rebuilt cluster and got it all but the speedo to work. There is no power to the transmission the wires are brown&white and brown&black; Is this the correct wires?. if so witch one is power and where does it come from? Would the other one run straight to the cluster? Thank you for reading and any help Joey

If I'm not mistaken there might not be any. The speedometer bullet in the transmission is a signal generator. So maybe would like to put a slow to medium speed drill on the sender see if you get a speed on the Dash. or a Voltage from sender

OP - Do you have a correct FSM (Factory Service Manual) for your '84? The wiring diagram for an '84 seem to indicate TAN/WHT and PNK/BLK to the PM-Generator (VSS). TAN/WHT (A-cavity) & PNK/BLK (B-cavity)

This being your first post you don't have PM privileges yet but it appears maybe an email link. I sent an email and CF mail generally ends up in a persons SPAM and doesn't find it's way to an INBOX.

Where are you located?

Both sensor wires go directly to the digital dash.
