I have an 89’ corvette with the Bose auto system option that came on the car. Only the right rear speaker does anything even trying to move to the front speakers does nothing but make that back speaker quieter. What can I do to trouble shoot. Also I don’t know if it is just that speaker or the radio but it has a weird sound it makes as long as the radio is turned on.
If you want to keep it all original you can rebuild the Bose amps as S Carter said, but it will probably be cheaper (and sound better) to just replace everything (including the speaker wires) with new as Pacer X said. You can get a later model GM CD player to work, but they are pricey. I replaced all of the speakers in my 89 with new ones and installed a NOS Sony tape deck for the period correct look.
True you can gut the system and start with all new but if you want to keep original stuff and have the modern-day interfaces that to can be found he rebuilds amps as well I he can put in the Jack's and other things www.carstereohelp.com

I was thinking about putting a touchscreen and having Bluetooth and apple car play.
I had Best Buy run the wires for me with a foot of excess hanging out. Took non-Bose enclosures and put speakers that were for non-Bose cars in them. I made the final connections to the head unit. So if there is something I want, I can simply toss the head unit and get a newer and better one. I am no longer chained to the few people that service Bose.
Does anyone have a good speaker to replace the bose with. Also were can i but a sub in that car, or will i have to just have it in the back.
Look at Crutchfield for the non-bose car if you want to go my route. If you want to start adding subs, I really don't know what to do since it eats up room you don't have.

You can remove it like I said. Run the wires to the speakers and get a harness to hook up the new system and you won't be chained to Bose. Don't like the speakers? Change them. Don't like head unit? Change.
