I switched to the EBL Flash II last week to get a more updated Computer system in my 85 corvette and more tunable platform. My Car never hits the track and is a daily driver. It might top the 4800 RPM mark on the tach once in a month to get past that fool on the highway to get around them. I live out in the middle of nowhere and Walmart is 25 miles away with a trip down the interstate. I have had the car for about a year and she has 1500 miles on the new engine and transmission right now. I spent the year working on the driveability of the car and had reach an average of 21-22 MPG on the old MAF system while at 75mph on the Interstate. This weekend I took a 120 mile trip between towns and let the VE Learn run the whole time. It did make some corrections and flashed the new BIN for the way back the next day. Even after 20+ VE learns the highway average is around 14-15mpg. Anyone have suggestions or steps to help get my Gas mileage back up in the 20s?

I take it you resolved your TPS volt issue??? Once the BLMs are ~128, I'd look into enabling "Highway Lean Cruise." Don't remember all the parameters TPS below x%, MAP below xkPa, temp below x*F...locks BLM at 128, starts pulling fuel and adds timing to programmed x AFR. Your driving style needs to be "steady" as delta MAP/TPS can kick it out.
Yes after 3 days of emails with Bob we tracked down to a ground that was not working. Once I fixed that everything is Golden. Now Im trying to learn how to tune this thing without getting lost and blowing up the engine.

Are you using TunerPro and what version? Send me your Bin and I will have a look at it. OR post it up here and I will download it. Never tuned an 85 and up, just the 82/84.

Yes Sir, I have Tuner Pro V5 ( latest on the website) I have used it to smooth out some tables but beyond that nothing. Having a degree in computer science doesn't start to help me understand that program LOL

OK, so I use TP ver 4.16 vs 5, but that's only because I have been using ver 4 for so long and I'm ok with it. So, your high speed VE table looks odd to me with that huge bubble all in the middle. Is your motor bone stock? I also noticed your TPS gain was at 96, so just out of curiosity, when you have WUD pulled up, key ON, engine OFF what does the display read under TPS with gas pedal to the floor and held? Is it 100%? What is your BLM staying at?
Here is a pic of a bone stock 82/84 corvette VE table that was recently done notice the smooth transition between cells and on the high speed, they are somewhat close. BTW, my BS is in computer science as well and they didn't teach this in any class that I remember.

TPS is showing 78 with key on engine off. But when driving i can floor it and it says 100. BLM is 128 with engine running at idle

Is that actual calculated mileage or just based off what the DIC says. I don't have my PC so I can't look at the VE table but... @Buccaneer I'm suprised that's what stock CFI tables come out to be. Usually they follow the torque curve a little more.
I'll take a look tomorrow as I run version 5 but I'm curious... what AFR (or lambda) is it commanding at highway speeds?
I filled the tank before the trip and refilled after each length of the trip, so yes thats true mpg. I keeo records each fillup to keep track of changes i have made to see what changes make.

Just checking to see if people are as **** as me.
If that's the case lean cruise may be the solution. BLM and commanded afr at those speeds as well as a true read out would be needed. When my tune was messed up it had weird spots it refused to learn that resulted in excessive fuel consumption at cruise. Thats weird to say the least.
I never trusted the cars dash mpg reading so I keep track of fuel used and mileage. The EBL FLASH HUD says im over 22 mpg average and I KNOW that's wrong.

That's a little odd. Sometimes the carpet mat interferes with the pedal and causes a lower reading, but you say 100 at WOT. 128 is good and around 14.7 which is great. Still wondering about the "bulge" though.
Paul, we just completed that tune for a stock 82/84 the other day. We had six people in on this tune to include myself and three stock 82s as test mules running EBL of course. This tune rocks a stock motor and chirps the tires in 2nd on two of the cars. I like it

I checked the TPS while running to the store right after you posted. I'll double check in the morning and see what I can find. I found it odd also, I even checked it 3 times to make sure i wasnt seeing something, yes I even pulled down the floor mat thinking it was behind the pedal lol
Ok had some time this morning to verify everything. I went through the procedures to check idle/timing/IAC/TBS settings.
1. Timing is at 10 degs base with the ecm wire disconnected at 750 rpm
2. TPS is at .54 volts with key on, not running. I get 4.56 volts at WOT
3. Checked to make sure the idle was correct. 700rpm in P/N and drops to 650rpm in Drive. with everything hooked back up.
With Engine off key on im still seeing 89 on the HUD for TPS, but still get 100 when engine on and WOT down the road, so Im puzzled. Went by this morning to the local muffler shop and hoped maybe to get the WB02 installed, not a chance, scheduled a Wednesday morning unless I can find someplace that can do it tomorrow morning. I did fill the tank to get a current MPG since the EBL install, I have driven 263 miles since the install and 130 miles of that Interstate at 75mph,the rest driving around town and tuning. I got an average of 16.15mpg this tank. This means the Cars AVG calculations are pretty close but the EBL HUD is way to generous lol.
I don't see anything glaring. 89% tps key on engine off is probably fine, the voltage difference running makes up the perceived % difference.
The VE table looks okay, it seems to follow the torque peak on the runner tuning so I wouldn't be too worried about the hump, it is there on the EBL calibration for a TPI as well. What I would say is that timing in the areas you cruise at is very conservative... 35 degrees or so max. You can for sure sprinkle in a few more degrees and it'll be happier to run there and probably will help with fueling too... bin 3005 in the included files has a similar timing table with a few more degrees sprinkled in... I assume your cruise is in the 40-50 map range and around 2000rpms at 75? You are only seeing about 33 degrees in that area. I run almost 40 and the stock calibration in that range is 38. I'd suspect that would have a meaningful effect. Maybe try that.
The starting BIN I used was the 3005 BIN and this is what corrections and VE learns came out with. Yes at 75mph I'm at 2100rpm steady at cruise speeds. I'll add a few degs at a time in that area and smooth it out and see what happens.
Thanks

if that's the case, just copy and paste the timing table and see what it does. Honestly I think your tuning at the point is where it simply needs fine tuning. Little bits will go a long way imo. It just takes time. I have over 600 bins from when I started to now. So it gets messy lol.
