Taking my LT4 to a local engine builder to get 46 more cubes; he says supplier differences in 2021 are mostly about the finish of the crank/pistons/rods etc. The parts come from the same forge in china, but the finishing process varies with the manufacturers creating the stroker kits.
Plenty of American companies making engine parts, not sure why your going with China stuff? All the machinists I use won't even look at something made in China. Granted, some stuff they put out is of decent quality, but no way id go with engine parts from them.
I'm specifically talking about rotating assemblies. I'm told that Eagle, Lunati, Mahle, make a crankshaft design and send it to a steel forge for production. There used to be more than one, but now everyone uses the same so the difference in an Eagle and Lunati, crank is shape and finish only. The manufacturing like composition and annealing are the same.
Thought maybe one of the builders that lurk in this thread might be able to confirm.
A majority of forgings are done in china and finished in the US.
I've seen someone make 1800whp on unbranded chinese H-beams. Those same rods are sold as "American made" by a company I won't name and sold at a large price difference, with the only noticeable difference between the 2 being that the finished machining is done in the US.
