I have Side Effects on my 96 Vette and love them. Make sure that you buy directly from the Manufacturer. They have the best customer service and by far the best prices.
Re: SIDE pipe exit exhaust systems (ninetyfivevette)
HOWSER-
Did you have some work done on your bumper to remove the spaces for the mufflers?
Looks great!
Yes/no...you can buy the exhaust cutout fillers from Side Effects that fill in the area below the bumper. They actually look really good and they bolt right in. You do have to drill two small holes in the underside of your bumper to secure them.
If you do a search on the side exhaust system (Alchemist started the thread) I posted some close up pics of the fillers. Maybe someone will post a link.
Yeah they use the stock cats and so they have to rerout the pipes back. So thats like two bends for each side, wow thats a loss of power right there. :yesnod:
Thanks for the reply. I have always like the side effects, especially on a black car. I just did not know if filler pieces for the bumper were available... Now I know!
Would there be excessive power losses even if the "U" bends were smooth? I read in an exhaust book that as long as the bends were smooth, there would be little if any power loss. Running through their silencers might be a whole nother story though...
I am curious what the company says and if they have done any before and after dyno runs??

For real, they all claim all these flow numbers, % in increase, but I never see any dyno numbers, This is truw with many companys trying to sell their products. ;)

They claim a 10 hp gain at the rear wheels. I don't know if this is entirely true or not but I did dyno after my mods. But, I have no numbers before mods to determine a baseline. I can only guess as to what the before numbers were bu using other LT1 numbers.
With the exhaust, gutted cats, open lid/K&N I reached 271 at the rear wheels. This was on a Dyno jet in St. Louis with temps around 89 degrees and humidity around 50%.
I do believe that I gained at least a few ponies at the rear. 10 hp?? I cannot tell you how much though for sure.
