Hi maybe someone can help me! I have a 93 and i decided to change fuel filter, which is located on right side of frame next to cat verter. i first took the supply and return loose at top of engine, no problem, took nut off of line clamps on right inner fender, no problem, got under car and removed clamp screw on filter, no problem. the problem is i loosened return line fitting and line nut that screws into filter and gas comes out just like its running straight from the tank without slowing down so I tightened them back up to stop the fuel, what should i do now? to stop the fuel so i can pull the two lines out together swap the filters and reinstall? thanks in advance!
Start by loosening the gas cap to release any pressure that may be inside tank then reseat cap if it still flows pull gas door and reluctantly lightly clamp hose.
. Yes this is normally a gas smelly job

1. The fuel system remains under pressure even after the engine has been shut off for an extended time. Therefore it is necessary to relieve the pressure in the fuel system before any work is done on fuel injection components or lines.
2. Remove the cover from the fuse block located in the right end of the dashboard.
3. Pull the fuel pump fuse from the fuse block to disable the pump. The fuel pump fuse is identified by the letters FP.
4. Start the engine and let it run until it dies from lack of fuel, then crank the engine over for several seconds with the starter to insure that all pressure has been eliminated from the system.
5. Be sure to replace the fuel pump fuse when work is completed on the fuel system.
After the fuel pressure has been relieved. it's a good idea to lay a shop towel over any fuel connection to be disassembled, to absorb the residual fuel that may leak out when servicing the fuel system. I found on my 96 the fuel continued to leak out during the entire fuel filter assembly. By time I was done I had this much in my oil pan.
