My 1992 base model started running rough a few months ago. I decided to do plugs and wires ran a little better then ran terrible. long story short changed Air temp sensor, MAP sensor, O2sensors, EGR valve, TPS sensor. Still ran rough. Changed fuel filter full of black garbage. Found out that the ABS SRS and security light was an ECU issue when engine warms up so I sent that in to be rebuilt of course it could not be repaired so I shelled out more money for another one with a lifetime warranty. Put the ECU in did not run all that great. Lights are out though. moved on to the dreaded Opti spark and water pump just to be safe. changed plugs again found one oil covered and one gas covered. compression check was done after finding the oil covered spark plug and all checked out ok No gas smell from the oil dipstick so moved on to injectors. Put in the machine and they were squirting every direction and dribbling no atomizing. They put them in an ultrasonic cleaner and they are functioning properly now. The head mechanic went to drive it and almost did not make it back. He had to use both feet due to the fact that when he put it in gear it would die. It is now running worse then before. I went to pick it up and we had to jump start it. Well I looked at my favorite web forum which has gotten me this far and it sounds like it could be the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
That was my first question about fuel pressure. Haven’t heard. Figured this is the last fuel part to replace other than regulator but I’m not seeing or smelling the symptoms of regulator. As for battery I read it on a post in one of the forums when I searched car dies when I put in gear. Thanks for your reply really needing all the help I can get at this point.
It seems that you've spent a lot of money throwing parts at it. If it's a fuel problem, get a gauge on it Seeing or smell isn't going to get it diagnosed.
One sign of a bad regulator is a gas smell on the oil dipstick. Granted quick check but I’m not at the shop. My other question other than fuel pressure was after they replaced the opti spark I asked if they pulled codes yet and they hadn’t so it could be bad part out of the box. I totally agree with you fuel pressure right there easily accessible to test would tell us a lot.. I post after I speak to the shop tomorrow. This forum is so awesome with people like you jumping in to help people you don’t know. I’m new to the forum and less than a year owner of the vette. Thank you

What does the battery do for the car once it is started? I would think it is more of your minimum air rate is wrong. I would buy a scanner to read data and NOT a code reader.
