The '88 has a cold start injector and the '89 doesn't. The runners won't match the later plenum. On my '86 i had to swap the whole thing, base, runners and plenum to use a '91 ported plenum i had on the shelf.

I have early and late but not willing to tear them apart so surfed for these pics. 1st pic of early plenum, circled air passage early tb won't work with late plenum but late tb will work on either. 2nd pic late runner with cast material that will cover up early plenum opening.
