I noticed my car when I purchased it has one, but the 1st to 4th light still comes on for a second, then quickly goes out. Is that what its supposed to do? And what does it do when you dont have the skip shift eliminator? Is it possible to shut the light out completely?
Yea, my light also comes on, but choose I see it as cool thing - a reminder that I've out-witted Chevy and the EPA's mandated intrusion into my driving pleasure. :jester
or you could replace the PROM in the computer with an updated version that doesn't engage the 1-4 lock out. Personally if I ever meet the idiot who developed that stupid azz design I'LL I'LL I'LL I'LL I'LL.....well you know

That "stupid azz design" is the reason the Corvette was exempted from the gas guzzler tax. We should be thanking the designer for making CAGS easy to disconnect...my .02
This goofy feature is noted in McClellans book "Inside Corvette". He too disliked the idea and made sure the media knew which wire to cut. It was the gass guzzler tax and GM was making sure the Corvette wouldn't cross the line.
Not sure on the Vet but on the F-body PCM you can pull wire #15 from the blue block and the light will not illuminate. You can also pull the bulb on the dash.
Had one in my 98 SS and it was a nuisance. Bought the skip shift eliminator and it eliminated the skip shift but did not eliminate the light. Don't know how to eliminate the light.
