Default Power Seats - 88

My passenger side seats won't go forward or back but all other buttons work. 1st...can I manually move the seat forward/back (my 6'1" wife is complaining her seat is too forward), 2nd...how do I fix the forward/back function?

Thanks again you all!

The track could be binding . Does it make any noise when you move the switch? Pull the lower cushion, remove the four screws, pull seat out. Look for power at the motors I belive the middle one is frt/back. Its could be the track or the cable from the motor to the gear reducers. You can pull the cable from the motor and turn it with a wrench as you help the seat along to move it manually.

It makes a noise when I pull the switch...like it's trying to move but can't. I have the lower cushion out and I don't really see the "cable" that you are referring to.

My passenger seat died and I replaced the track last spring. I got one from Contemporary Corvette for around $200, exchange.

Since your motor is running but the seat isn't moving it sounds like a bad drive.

You will need to remove the four bolts that hold the seat to the track and then the four nuts that hold the track to the floor. Then unplug the large connector in the cable comming from under the carpet midway under the seat and lift the track out.

I go the seat out with no problem but I am not seeing where or how I can manually adjust the seat.

Is this possible?

Take the seat out and take the bottom cushion out. The rod gear might have dropped. The nut would be very close by, look for it. The nut that attached to the rod is toward the back of the seat. That what happen to my driver seat when I just bought it. The last owner didn't try to fix it or didn't care...

If you remove the track you can try to manually adjust it all the way back.

I didn't try that so don't know if you can force the gear train manually.

Ok got it. The infamous "cable" to adjust the seat manually is inside the plastic hose going to the gear reducer (happens to be the middle one for forward/back). Phew...that was hidden! I can move the seat up and back but let me ask you...does the passenger seat not go as far back as the driver's seat? The passenger seat "was" all the way back when I took 'er out but I noticed on the passenger side there was a good 3-4 inches to put the seat back. What gives here?

Thanks for your help gents!

I noticed the same thing with my pass. seat. It doesn't move back as far as the driver seat. Maybe it has to do with the space difference of the two. I didn't see the cable on mine sport seats, have to check it next time I take the seats out.
