Default What is this component called?

New to C4 Corvettes and was wondering that this component was called in the circled area? It was unplugged before I had the car and I plugged it back in. Car seemed to run fine before without it being plugged in. Car is a 1984 auto trans cross fire injection

You say "you plugged it back in" I assume you plugged a hose on? where does the the other end go? where is this part located? This might be a question for the C3 section of this forum as well. the L83 was used only in the 82 and 84 model years.

The part is actually Air Injector Control Valve. If you connected a hose as the image 'hints' then I believe that hose would go to the air cleaner, the bolted pipe is from the AIR pump and the nipple would be for 'diverted' air towards air cleaner? Was it a short hose with an 'accordion' affair in it?

I have both the '84 FSM (Factory Service Manual) and a GM SPO Parts Catalog published in early 1990 that would certainly help you moving forward with your '84 Corvette. Use the PM link or email link after clicking on my 'USER ID" if you're interested.
