Hi, I have just placed an order for the remote start from Madirect, and they say I need the 1-15 key code for my car. There are no Chev dealers down under. I measured the pellet with a multimeter and got a reading of 4.7K. Is this the code or is there a table to convert to the 1-15 code? TIA

That is the resistance-not the code. It can be from 380 to 12.3K ohms for the 1 to 15 codes; but the manual doesn't say exactly what resistance= what code...Try a locksmith, they should have a code reader for the key.
That appears to be code #11. If you do a search on google for "VATS pellet resistance" you should turn up several copies of the chart, including a tech tip on the forum :)
I just installed a remote start on my G-Friends car and plan on installing one on the Vette soon. They rock and I think it is a nice upgrade to a normal door/hatch unlock system since the factory alarm was from SATAN. I threw the factory alarm remotes in the house and never looked back. Thank God there is a remote system to replace it with. I remember in the rain doing the Jig in front of my door with my hands full of packages just to shake that little bastard remote to get it to unlock the doors. I took apart and cleaned the remote several times and replaced the batterys and still it would mess up. The remote start cost me less than a new factory remote (65.00) and comes with two remotes, unlocks doors and hatch and works from 300ft.
By the way I bypassed the Theftlock in my G-Friends car by finding the (3) tiny wires that go to the front part of the ignition switch and (with the car running) cutting and testing the resistance between the key side yellow wire and black wire and then soldering in a resister between the harness side yellow wire and black. Some feel it is best to not bypass the Theftlock but how is anyone going to find my girlfriends car out of all the rest? Also a learn module is scary to me as I don't want her stranded.
Hope your system works out is nice as mine......now to surprise her for Xmas.
