Anyone has idea what’s going on here? I bought used set of early trailing arm brackets couple years ago for my ’90 (for drag racing purpose). Today I found out they are not identical. When side holes are aligned side by side, the frame bolt holes aren’t. Why is that? I thought early trailing arm brackets would be same between ’84-87. Am I missing something?
PS. It didn’t help to turn around the other bracket. 😉
Thanks for the replies! Anyway both of my brackets have same part # stamped on the behind. Trailing arm holes have the same distance from each other on both brackets. The chassis bolt holes and also emercancy brake cable hole are just misaligned between brackets.
Like I said I bought them used and I don’t know if they are from the same vehicle. It’s just weird that frame bolt holes aren’t aligned. I haven’t found anywhere information that frame bolts holes would be at a different height based of year (’84-87).
If you change the location of the holes to the frame, you alter the angles of the trailing arms. Your picture shows that they kept the centerline to centerline relationship of the 2 arms the same, but slightly changed the angle of arms to the knuckle, OR changed the location to take into account different sized tires
OR just tuning the ride.

I agree with the other comments on the hole locations changing affecting anti-squat / anti-dive geometry on acceleration / braking. The detail suspension geometry of the front and rear suspensions did change at least once post-1986 as I remember changes in the steering axis, caster, etc. for the bigger 17" wheels as well.
FWIW the part number being the same doesn't guarantee the same part. For example, the valve cover part # 10055781 is the left hand engine valve cover, and I have multiple covers here with that same part number, but some have 1 dripper vs. 2 drippers cast into the cover as well as changing the side where the engine oil fill occurs between 1989 / 1990 / 1991. So that part number represents more like a 'position' of that part on the car rather than the same exact casting / stamping of the part.
