Default Need help data logging and chip burning

Is there anybody who can help with datalogging and burning a chip.
This is new to me.
ive got an 87 C4 with L98 upgrades.
My fuel burn is wrong. Maybe a lot more- don’t know.

I'm willing to pay someone for your time.👍
i believe I’ve got all the equipment to accomplish it. But no laptop- just home computer

L-98 with a Scoggins Dickey TPI vortec intake, under ‘96 906 vortec heads,
bosch injectors etc

I can't help you. However, I have seen quite a few guys on here that are heavy into data logging and programming. Maybe post in C4 general asking for help. Might have a better chance of being seen.

I sent my chip to an expert, he’s gonna take care of it. Should have it back next weekish.
for the ecm to function does the advance need 6deg adv, or is there a range?

Only issue that might be dicey, the engine builder that rebuilt my engine doesn’t know what cam he installed, only that it’s two steps above stock, if that’s specific enough, it should work.

I bought a 1320 Electronics Bluetooth data logging cable. I also bought a Moates Burn2 chip programmer, a Moates G1 memory adapter and a HDR1 memcal header. I data logged with the cable to my Andoid phone using the ALDL Scan app. Then I uploaded my bin file and the data log results to this same forum and received very good help here.

I've always had problem doing datalogs on my 89. It's a known issue on these cars. Real annoying doing a datalog and get one mile down the road until the data stops flowing and so you have to find a place to pull over and restart the car. I used to also restart the datalog until I learned I believe you just have to shut the car off for like 10 seconds and then when restarting, the data should start flowing again on the datalog. Sometimes I have to pull over like 5 times during a 20 minute datalog.

I've adjusted my tune to reduce the spark table to that of a Camaro L98 because of knock counts. It helped reduce the counts, though they are still there for some reason I've never been able to figure out. I also had a problem where the car would sometimes seem like it was running on the battery when at a stoplight with my headlights on, so I adjusted the tune to bump up the idle some and that fixed that problem as it's weird when your turn signal is blinking in slow motion or the car dying when coasting through a parking lot because for what ever reason it runs on battery even though a new alternator and battery got replaced.

I also adjusted my tune to compensate for ethanol gas as I believe there is a different air/fuel ratio than when running pure gas. Don't know if it matters or not, but I went ahead and changed the ratio since the factory tune is for 100% gas.

I also bypassed the VATS via the tune as well. So should do that too.

I got all of my stuff from Moates.

All my experience data logging and tuning is with my 90 but I have a play list on YT if you have time to watch most of it will still apply to your 87
here is a link to the play list https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...dktX0orGjpxz6v

I bought some of that gear- using a cell is a game-changer. I installed vortec heads n a new Scoggins Dickey tpi vortec intake, n a new chip, now she doesn’t idle with the computer connected. I fired the tuner guy who made that chip n The new chip burner specialist said I’ve got to be on 6deg advance.
Hes from Ottawa. I should have the chip he’s burning in 2 weeks or so. I’m unsure as to how to get that app, but this is looking optimistic. I’m still not sold on computer reliance, I’d much rather have a carb I can get my hands on. Currently my new plugs are solid black from all the soot, too rich I guess, engine stalls, n is non responsive, small backfires. I can pedal the throttle to keep it from stalling, but she won’t idle on her own. Couldn’t even time her. Thanks for the help👍I’m all ears.

It's an android app so your phone will need to be android, if you have a android phone then just search apps for ALDdroid or go here https://www.aldldroid.com/
Also the bluetooth adapter I mention in the video has a free android app you can download from there website
In my opinion you will not be able to get a good tune, mail order or otherwise unless you data log, without it the tuner will just be guessing
having a wide band is even better.
