I HAVE A 92 VETTE WITH THE LT1. ANYONE EVER DONE LONG TUBES AND IF SO WHAT KIND AND HOW IS THE FIT? HOOKER LISTS A NUMBER BUT IT IS THE SAME AS THE SHORTY HEADERS??
The only real advantage of shorty's is weight savings over the stock manifolds, theres only a small power gain.
Hooker 2149 or 2151 is the longtubes everyone uses, however getting cats to fit with longtubes can be a problem. You should gain around 10-15hp from longtubes.
I have the coated TPIS long tubes and like them a lot. They are 1.75" and have 3" collectors. Since I'm in Florida, I do not have cats but you could bolt some high-flow Bullit cats up to them. I have a 3" Tri-Flow bolted up to them (had to cut a little off on one side and also need to use a couple of 8" long test pipes in between the headers and exhaust). I also replaced the resonator with a 3" X-Pipe. This combination will cause your neighbors to call the cops every time you fire it up. :D
