85 Rear Brake Tips and Tricks
After struggling with it for a VERY long time, my driver side now has a functioning e-brake, new rotor, and pads, but it only took 4 hours, and I don't want a repeat of that situation on the passenger side. First up, getting the cable bracket off, how the hell does everyone go about doing it? I probably spent an hour getting that one bolt out turning it like 15*, an absolute pain. Second, is there a special tool to pull the e-brake cable out of the bracket? I used a pair of needle nose to squeeze the tabs down with the bracket off, but I can see any way of doing it with it on the car.
Third, how does everyone go about freeing up the e-brake? I stuck the box end of a long 12mm wrnch onto the hook, lubed the entirety of the mechanism with WD40 front and back, and then hammered it back and forth. It's not 100% free and still catches a wee bit, but the brake releases with the handle down.
