Default Flowmaster catback system force II

This system will be my next exhaust system. I don't want pros and cons.
My only concern is the Y pipe supplied with the kit. No heat shieds are welded on it to preserve the leaf spring . Stock Y pipe and Walker crossover Y pipe they have this heat shield. Your experience will be appreciated (Yes ,You with the flowmaster system in your C4!!) - Thanks-

I don't think it will pose a problem. If the heat is really a concern, maybe have the Y-pipe ceramic coated. It will definitely look really nice from the rear.

I just bought this exhaust from summit but have not put it in yet. I called Flowmaster about this and of course they told me it does not cause any problems with the spring (what did I expect them to say !)

The way the pipe is designed, it looks like it does split out into the individual tail pieces until further back then the stock Y pipe so it might not cross the spring area in the same place. I won't be putting it in until I get my headers so I won't know for sure for a while.

I've had one on my 90 coupe for 3 1/2 years. I had the same initial concerns about heat shields, but was assured by Flowmaster and others that it wouldn't be a problem and it hasn't.
I installed the system myself and took a lot of time to make sure that I had the recommended clearances between the exhaust and the differential and rear suspension. Checking clearances and lining everything up ended up being the most time-consuming part of the job. Even so, it only took me one Saturday morning. The smartest thing I probably did was to soak the joints of the old exhaust system in WD-40 every night for a week before - it really helped in getting the old stuff off.
I've been really happy with the Flowmaster system. I think it sounds great and it still looks good.
Good luck,
Mark

There was one on my 96 when I bought it. That's been almost four years now. I have also had one on my 86 for over a year. No problems with either one.
