Alternator replacement
I need to replace my Alternator on my 93 coupe. Mine is the 140 amp model (so I've been told) with threaded bolt holes on the back. Many choices. I want to go with something better then the reman units they sell at Oreilly's or Auto Zone. I have searched the threads and can't find any info on what to buy, or where to buy, that is recent. This should be a commonly replaced part. What has been your experience? Thanks.

I have a 16 year old autozone unit that still works great but I don't trust newer "rebuilds". I'll do my own if mine ever fails. Parts for the CS144 are readily available and they are easy to work on. There are several youtube videos that show how to do it yourself. There are still a few specialty alternator and starter repair shops around. I would trust them more than a parts store that gets rebuilts from "the lowest bidder".
