ok guys any help here would be great, I am trying to find a way to lower the car it sits way too high on the stock wheels. I really don't want to go coil overs as it could cause driveline vibrations. I am really at a loss here and could use some help. Has anyone lowered theirs and what did you. as you can see it needs some help, thanks ahead of time
do.
To lower the rear, unscrew the nuts on the spring bolts. If the spring bolts don't offer enough length, there are longer ones for sale from most vendors. I made some out of Grade 8 rebar.
To lower the front, trim the rubber pads under the center and/or outer spring perches. I don't think that your car sits too high...but I know it's a matter of opinion.
Your convertible has an x-brace under it, which makes it have 1 1/4” less ground clearance than the coupes. Speed bumps aren’t friendly for a std height corvette and less for a Vert with the x-brace. It’s your car to do with what you want. I have an 88 Vert and I wouldn’t lower it. Your car looks great! Have fun cruising in it. Top down of coarse! Kevin
Learned about that cross brace the hard way also. Many that lower these cars wind up raising them back up due to clearance issues.
Looks great but it stops there. How would adjustable coil overs give you vibrations? It will be easier to raise or lower if the mood hits ya
I couldn't imagine lowering a convertible with the X brace. I put coil overs on the front of my 84 coup and longer bolts in the back. I got it set in my garage to the perfect height. It looked awesome. The fact was when I went to drive it to the alignment shop I couldn't get it out of my own driveway. I had to bring it back in the garage and lift it up another inch. It still looks good. But not as low as I would like.
Vendors sell the 1-2" lowering bolts for the rear. I lowered mine 1.5" just in the rear, kept the front standard and it looks better now and still have decent ground clearance. The bolts are inexpensive and you can do the change in less than 30 minutes. If you do not like the results, just change it back.

You don't have to change it back...just crank the nuts back UP, on the new lowering bolts (if you get 'em).
That's the nice thing with doing coil overs in the front. If you ever get sick of scraping on every speed bump and pot hole you can just adjust it up more.
Verts actually sit higher than coupes to compensate for x brace. I have a lowered coupe and hesitant to install x brace. I would only have 3-3.5 inches of ground clearance.
