Dies at quarter tank
My 1988 dies at just under a quarter of a tank left, long as I fill it before then it’s fine but I’m wondering if my fuel level reader is off or if it could the sign of a bad pump or assembly. When I refill it the car takes 16 or so gallons to be full so 4 gallons away from should be actually empty. Refilling fixes the dying issue instantly. Any help is appreciated

I think that part of the issue may be do to there being no baffles in the fuel tank. Thus when you get below a quarter of a tank any curves or turns may cause the fuel to be pulled away from the fuel sock.

Vettes do have issues when cornering if below a 1/4 tank.
Maybe take the pump out and replace the sock on there. Very easy job on C4's.
There is also a baffle down in the tank too, where the pump sits. Maybe its a loose?
Road Racers and Drag Racers probably deal with it more than anyone. Good Luck.

Probably the fuel level sender wire (purple I believe) is just aged and not making good connection, mine literally popped off in my hands once when replacing the pump.
