Unopened Engine Coolant
Hi All, I have a couple of gallons of unopened Dexcool. I would say about 4 years old.
Since the seal wsn't broken is it safe to use?
Thanks

In MY opinion I would use it without a second thought . It is new, sealed and still fresh in the bottle ready and waiting for action.
I hope it lasts as I too have several gallons of the VW Blue anti-freeze on the shelf in my garage to be used on my old Vanagon.
Good Luck with your DexCool, you should be okay!

Last time I did a coolant flush, which was in the spring, I used two gallons of ten year old unopened Prestone I had sitting around.
Haven't had a problem.
But I flush it and put in new every year anyway.

I'd use it even if it was opened, it's not brake fluid. Hell, I'd use brake fluid too as long as it was capped.

I would use that coolant without hesitation. IIRC, the recommended service life for Dexcool is five years. Four years on the shelf should be no problem.
