Default Removing Door Trim Panel Help

Trying to remove my 92 drivers side trim panel. I have followed the FSM instructions by removing all screws and pulling the accessory panel and disconnection the associated wire harnesses but the panel still seems to be hung up on something in the area of door handle? Any ideas? This is not the first time I have done this and I don't remember it being this difficult to figure out.

There appear to be a screw behind the lock slider **** that engages a nylon nut. I don't see any way to get to this screw if it is located behind the slider ****. My key is stuck in the door lock and the lock mechanism is not fully engaging or dis-engaging. Trying to get the panel off so I can see what is on. It is always something with this F#@$#%G car.

Use a transmission pick hook or small screwdriver to pop out the slider and the screw is revealed, and did you remove the screw behind the low glow lamp above the door handle.

You mentioned in that other thread that you 'tripped' the latch while the door is open and now can't be shut. Your lock cylinder bind is I believe a bit different than most. If your door is still open you should be able I believe to correct yours with the door panel still in place!

A 'slim jim' might just get you fixed. A long pick/seal remover might also reach the lock cylinder pawl and rod to release/apply leverage.

Update, I did close the latch but was able to open it just by lifting the door handle and pulling on the steel latch. So basically the door opens and closes just fine but the key is stuck in the horizontal position and the door will not lock. It moves about a quarter of an inch then stops.

more info please regarding lifting the slider. If the slider has to be in the fully locked position then I may a have a problem getting to the hidden screw.

Yes, got the screw behind the glow lamp. I need more detail regaling lifting the slider. Mine is stuck in the open position. This may make it difficult to lift.

. No matter which position it is in you can get to the screw it's just easier in the unlocked position, the problem with it being in the unlocked position is you need to be a little rougher. Instead of sliding the rod up and out the top, you need to lift the panel up out of the lip of door and slide panel forward to get clearance to slide rod out the top.

.Have You removed slider plastic piece from the rod?

On my 93 there is also a screw in the area of the top of the door pull accessible thru the cable hole. You will need a short socket extension to get to it. When replacing, use a magnet in the socket or you may be removing the panel to get it out.

Not yet. I guess I should try it. Just pry it out from the front with the panel in place correct? I just seems odd to me that the slider can be removed from front of the panel. What keeps if from just falling out?

It is snapped in place over the locking rod.

Ok I removed the slider and the screw that lives behind it but the damn panel still is hung up on something in the upper center of panel where it hooks into the door. I have removed the 6 visible panel screws, the one behind the light, the one behind the slider, the two that hold the button assembly in place, the button assembly and the glow light assembly. It would seem the plastic bezel should come out but it is resisting my attempts. I replaced the window motor on my 96 passenger side door and don’t remember having this much trouble.
