Can I install an electric water pump into my '84??????
Will it work on the street???? With no problems...If so which one...like the part number etc.....
Anyone????
:smash:
i have been working with Mezeire to modify one of their pumps to fit my 85. I'm not sure if your 84 is the same, but they are trying to relocate the idler pully from one of their f body pumps. The guy i'm working with is out until next week, but i'll post if they have something. If not, i'll have to fabricate some brackets to reroute the belt
So far its a PITA. Custom brackets, etc. Hopefully for you guys Ralph will get something worked out. None of the companies seemed to give a poopie about it when I called 6 months ago  But oh well, I'm making it work out.
I am running a CSI on block pump, will be wired up this week hopefully.
Unless your racing and NEED the benifits of electric, I wouldnt go with it, its something else electric to go wrong on the street. And for stock/mild mod motors belt driven pumps will do just fine.
Electric pumps are fine for short duration. They flow at a constant rate, flow rates do not vary with engine RPM but save horsepower for the time slip. Mechanical pumps, (belt driven l98 or gear driven LT1/4) vary with RPM and will likely flow more than electric in certain bands. This may vary with different models so harder to say. IF you have a clean radiator, functional stock system, just seems like way to much re-engineering. If you have a drag strip car, different story. Suggest factory or good aftermarket pumps would seem to provide much better durability than electric pumps. Maybe they will go 60,000 miles with no problem, day to day driving.
