Pressure won’t release on right front caliper on ‘89
Brake pressure won’t release on the right front caliper unless I crack the bleeder screw or loosen the line. Left front works fine. All the front brake parts were replaced recently, rubber lines, calipers, pads, rotors. I took the existing almost new hose off and there was no restriction either way, put a new one on anyway, Caliper pistons move in/out freely detached from line. When line is hooked up I can’t force them back in with a pad spreader. Tried good used caliper. Problem is still there. Is it the ABS? Followed hard line back, everything looks good. Bled a ton of fluid. The only thing I didn’t do was back flush the line, and crack the line at the master cylinder to see if it would release. Because if it didn’t the ABS would be holding it? Does anyone rebuild the ABS valves? Any ideas?
Crack the line at the ABS module and see if it releases there? If = YES, it is probably internal to the ABS. I once saw pics on here of a guy's ABS valves and springs that had serious rusted and broken springs and valves. Brake fluid absorbs moisture, and moisture causes rust.
I had a "one corner only" issuer on my 85 that ended up being a blocked banjo bolt. I don't remember the sequence of events that led to the blockage, but it was sediment from the caliper that got lodged in the bolt while I was working on the car. Took awhile to find.
i plan on cracking more lines tomorrow. I checked the banjo bolt, the hole and inside of the bolt were all clean. I’m pretty much ruling out the master cylinder because the drivers front is fine.
I had the same issue with my 90 and as mentioned above the mechanic released the line at the ABS pump and the wheel freed up. This indicated a blockage in the ABS pump so I got a used one as they can not be bought new. That freed up the wheel but there were issues with bleeding so they replaced the master cylinder as well. Finally everything worked as it should. Expensive but I sure couldn't drive with the wheel locking up.
