Default Help Identify Block, etc?

Hey all, so first official post here aside from the new member intro. My '94 was delivered this past Friday night; so excited! Going through it yesterday I found this list of goods under the seat. I don't know if it was the previous owner whose had the car since 2009, or one of the priors. The car was on consignment, but I'd feel funny just calling that number; I might though. In any case, some of the things are obvious of course. What I really need help with is how to identify the block, heads and such so as to confirm what's really there. Any experienced input is appreciated!

I mean if you start it it should be easy enough to tell if it's a solid roller by sound alone.

Pop the valve covers to check the rockers and IIRC AFR stamps in there, otherwise the end pad on the heads should say AFR too. As long as that's all there I'd say the engine is correct.

That being said, I don't see an x-brace, sheet metal valve covers, or a fast ECU so it is hard to tell...

from what i can see, it looks like someone has pulled the drm engine out and replaced it with a lt1/4. also the intake is not modified for the distributor but the qa1's are there. as stated, look on the end pads of the heads and afr should be there in big letters along with other data. if you pull a valve cover, factory composite not sheet metal, you can see if the jesel shaft mount system is there. the ati damper is also a visual difference.

It might be interesting to inspect the engine block for a VIN derivative to confirm maybe it's origin. That might confirm that it is/was just an engine swap. The VIN derivative location is often debated.

This is from a '94 in a previous thread earlier this year.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1603726773

A VIN derivative if a Chevrolet & '94 would be 1RXXXXXXX - X's would be sequence from VIN of original car.

R - '94 S - '95 T - '96

With a lift it shouldn't be an issue.

The ZF would also have a VIN derivative on it.

****Information from the engine pad front of right side cylinder head (if it's there) could also ID potentially the block origin.

Thanks for the info so far! I found this thread last night.

http://https:/www.corvetteforum.com/...m-lt4-etc.html

It is apparently one of the past owner's sale listing for a lot of those parts on the list. Small world. So back to square one. The car does run very well and strong.

Agreed as well... Looks like the motor *was* in there at some point. I notice there appear to be streaks of fluid underneath the car but don't see anything around the engine? Perhaps the motor blew and spewed fluids all over, slapped another LTx motor in there with same headers etc... and sold it? How many miles are on it now?

EDIT: Just saw last post after mine, so that engine hasn't been there in a while!
