Default Clutch fork hitting pressure plate

Hello all,
I just installed a new motor in my 1984, and the clutch fork is hitting the pressure plate and locking the motor up. It’s a Richmond overdrive 6spd. Is this adjustable? If so how?

note: this is looking into the bellhousing from the clutch slave cylinder

Is the ball stud a fixed length or can you tighten it so it reduces the length? Otherwise it looks like you would need a shorter one.

If it is the same as my '96 the ball for the fork has backed out and getting interferrence. I had this happen on my '96. The clutch made a heck of a noise when depressing the clutch pedal. I had to remove the bell housing and tighten the retaining bolt/nut on the other side. Lock tite the heck out of it and reinstall.

This happened on my 96. Mine was due to a bent clutch fork. I didn't look like it but when I got a new one from Melrose Corvette it was visible when comparing to the old on. It wasn't bent very much but just enough to cause it to rub. Just a note, the ball stud on a 96 is not adjustable. There are no visible threads like yours has. You may have to consult the factory manual to find out if it is adjustable.

Glad you know the difference. That is why I put the disclaimer in my post (a '96). Does his have the locking nut/bolt on the other side of the bell housing lke my '96?

While youre in there, clean the ball up and the cup it fits into and put some lube on it.

That I dont know. I would love to see it once he takes it out to see how it works in relation to our 96 models.

I would be willing to bet he has a bent fork. Over time they can bend. I saw another members whose broke in half during a shift on a highway...yikes!!!
