As the title says. The right side cable broke on my 92'. Does that hood opening tool from Zip work? How about the one from Corvette Salvage on ebay, or is it the same thing? Any body use this thing and how did it work out?
Re: broken hood cable, how do I get it open??? (mooncricket)
Visit the TECH TIPS forum, and you will find help using a tool. You can also access the hood latch from the fender well area after removing the tire and splash guard. If you have access to another vette, learn how the latch moves (inboard toward the engine) so that you can be effective with a tool. Once you have opened the hood and repaired the damaged cable, check the TECH TIP forum again for setting up an Emercency Hood Release, so that this will never happen again.

The easiest way is to take off front wheel on side of hood that is stuck and remove the inner fender well. Then pull cable right at the release pin. Took me 15 minutes. I fooled around with a bent coat hanger wire for 1/2 hour. THe tool may work but first u have to acquire one then manipulate it into correct position. Cable replacement is straight forward. Just pay attention when disassembling. Hope this helps. :) :)

Thanks for the info. I'll save my money and not buy the tool. I'm not sure about the emergency cable though, I'll just set the new cables up real nice and lube it all up and make sure it all works real nice. The side that broke was always a little sticky.

G*d.....I wish I knew of this forum earlier. I paid $250 to have the hood opened and the cable replaced.
  Too bad. I had the same problem and took mine over to L98Terror, who had it popped open in minutes.
