Default 58mm tb

Holley only makes 58mm TB's now. They discontinued their 52mm. What harm would a 58mm TB do on a mostly stock TPI motor, with cat-back ?
I have 21lb accel injectors, and a cat back. The oem TB is worn out. I don't like the BBK logo on their new 52. I'd rather get the Holly and install my own top plate.

Any for seeable problems running a 58TB on a mostly stock motor? The MAF measures the air, the o2 measures the mixture. If any thing I feel the ECM will adjust. What say you?

for a stock motor the 48mm is more than enough, I believe they are rated up to 500hp.

personally I wouldn't spend the money on a stock application. I have a heads & cam package and I'm staying with the 48mm stock unit

No harm. It will have more "throttle response", meaning, the engine will have a bigger reaction to small, off-idle throttle inputs b/c the holes are bigger. That is the only down side.

As for "adjusting", there is nothing for the ECM to "adjust to", really. The TB lets air into the engine. Stock one does it, 58 will to, just a bit earlier/quicker.

The ECM uses throttle position and throttle position delta to add AE and PE and for other things. . Light acceleration may cause a lean condition because you're getting more air with with less TPS delta. Easily adjusted with a tune but may or may not cause problems with a stock tune.

It won't cause any problem.

I've seen a reduction in HP on stock - close to stock engines. 52mm is the way to go, or just stock. The 58 disrupts the air flow or something that causes the loss on the top end

You saw that on a dyno? What car (engine)?

Very unlikely, this is not a carb.

The way I see it, more off-idle response. But top end is still limited by the OEM runners. And the ECM is quick enough to correct for any off-idle lean condition. I do plan on trying it.
