Have a 90 convertible. There is a decklid release button located on the underside of the decklid behind the drivers seat which doesn’t work. Release switches on both doors and inside the console work fine. When I went to research this in 8A of the SM the wiring for that switch isn’t indicated anywhere. Wire harness runs thru the decklid and exits on the passenger side then looks like it runs under the carpet. Was this an afterthought that didn’t make it to the manual?
Anyone familiar with this switch?
It was on every convertible I worked on right from the delivery car carrier, follow the wire into the carpet I will bet there is a plug. Do a circuit continuity test on hatch switch and a voltage test on car side and work from there
An M6 car or an A4? The switch grounds either through Park Brake or NSS. Is there a BWN or BRN/WHT wire to the switch? That wire if terminated correctly at relay should be B+ voltage.
It's in an '89 FSM, disappears '90, '91 & '92 it seems and reappears in the '93 FSM.
In a '90 FSM take a look at 8A-41-0. Is that maybe intentioned to be the switch on the lid?
